Last week I had the pleasure of meeting Jayanthi Narasimhan and Arun Buduri, co-founders of WatchRx. Narasimhan and Buduri have designed an amazing product to help caregivers, especially long distance caregivers, and seniors. Based on their own experiences as long distance caregivers (both are based in the U.S. and have parents living in India), they have created a wristwatch that reminds seniors to take their medicine by sending an alert with a picture and name of the medicine, the dosage, and whether or not it should be taken with food, milk, before or during a meal. You can even program the watch with the caregiver’s or a grandchild’s voice.
Narasimhan and Buduri have made the watch as simple as possible. It has only two buttons: one to call someone in an emergency and the other to turn the alerts off. The face of the watch displays only the time and date in big, bold typeface. The design is based on hours and hours of focus groups. Seniors don’t need to learn how to use an app, type on an Apple device, or change behaviors. And caregivers can easily check to make sure all is okay with the people they care for.
Unfortunately, WatchRx isn’t available yet. But watch this space. The company has been winning awards and hope to be in production soon. Cheers to innovation that truly understands the market.
